IRA Reports - Best Practices Note

Modified on Wed, 17 Sep at 6:39 AM

For more accurate IRA reporting results, it is best practice to create detailed journeyman and apprentice

craft/classifications. Doing so allows contractors to report the specific journeyman hours spent directly training

apprentices, providing administrators with an accurate journeyman to apprentice ratio.

Assuming a federal wage decision is already assigned to the IRA project, administrators with Full Administrator,

Business Manager, and Limited Admin credentials can create detailed journeyman and apprentice

craft/classifications. Start by going to the Setup tab>> Prevailing Wage Setup>> Add/Edit Project Wage Data>>

select your IRA project>> copy the applicable journeyman craft/classification and proceed with the following:

  • Journeyman craft/classifications: it is best practice to add “JM” to the end of the craft name.
  • Apprentice craft/classifications: it is best practice to add “JM” to the end of the craft name and “APPR” or “Apprentice” to the classification.

For detailed steps on copying craft/classifications, please refer to the Administrator User Guide > Prevailing Wage

Setup. Here is an example of a detailed IRA journeyman craft/classification from the administrator side:

On the contractor side, contractors will see the regular and detailed craft when entering a certified payroll report. To

report the specific training journeyman and apprentice hours, contractors must select the detailed craft. To report

non-training journeyman hours, contractors can select the regular (non-detailed) craft. It is also best practice for

administrators to discuss this expectation with their contractors for IRA projects:
